What are the largest prints I can get from a 5 megapixel photo?
Answers:
5mp is easily good enough for an 8 x 10
5Mp is generally around 2592 x 1944 pixels.
Very high quality professional printing requires 300 pixels per inch which would result in 8.6" x 6.5"
However- 200 pixels per inch still looks pretty dang good, and that will get you 13" x 9.7"
Of course- not all 5Mp is created equal. The small cameras often use very small detectors that have a lot of noise that comes out as blotchy color patterns and grain. You'll be able to see this in larger prints. Plus- due to the tiny size of the pixels, it's difficult for the small lenses to focus on those tiny spot sizes due to optical diffraction effects, and the smaller cameras will have less image sharpness and quality that will be exposed at these larger print sizes.
Easy an A4 size print, Maybe even A3 if it's totally in focus.
Depending on the quality of your printer, an 8" X 10" or 8" x 12" is possible. A 6 megapixel camera is recommended for anything that size or larger. Anything smaller than an 8" X 10" should have perfect quality.
As big as you like, but the quality may suffer beyond A3.
around 8x10
