Has anyone ever owned or still owns a CB radio?

Answers:
(i) Had one in '81 but left it behind and moved onto amateur radio (much more interesting and no wannabe DJ's). My neighbour still has one though and he says that he gets a lot of use out of it. I have radios capable of transmitting on the CB frequencies but never operate on the CB band.

(ii) In answer to hodeidah1's indirect question within his answer to you, no, you no longer need a licence for CB as it was deregulated a few years ago.
yes i do they are great when on the motor way why ?
Yeah I had on in my car while I was in college. It was lots of fun when I was going back and forth from TN to FL.
Breaker, what's your copy?

I loved CB!
They used to be popular round here in the 80's. 'Come in Rubber Duck'.

Last I seen of them was in the film Roadkill. Hello Candy Cane.
i had one, great fun!
ten four good buddy what's your home twenty
Used to have one when they first came out but there was too many idiots on so i got rid after 12 months.
there`s still quite a few around but yahoo chat killed most off
Yes I own a CB radio, a modern one that I purchased about 5 or 6 years ago.
We use them mainly to communicate between cars on car club outings, in order to keep the convoy together.

The old "rubber duck" speak is long dead, we tend to use more standard radio speak these days.

The term "breaker" is still used. I don't have a licence though, not even sure if you need one these days
Yes still working well
Got a whole pile in the loft, lovingly wrapped in bubble packing.

Including my President Grant which is in mint condition.

Also got loads of 'good old' UK radios from back in the day.
why yes i do still own one and have lots of fun with it. I have made a couple of long distance calls on it also, like to spain, austrailia, and south america to name a few. all on side band i might add.
Yes, I used to have an amstrad one, that I used at home, and have a 'Brick' from radio shack somewhere in the loft.

Isn't it funny how you could use one of them 'handheld' in your car no worries, but mobile phones are a no no?
