I want to get a games console. know bugger all about them which is the best one to get?
Answers:
the XBOX 360 in widely believed to be the best for graphics and is said to be going down in price to around £200 after Xmas. However the games are still roughly £40 new. This is expensive compared to Nintendo game cube ar around £30, however they aren't releasing many new games for the game cube as they are bringing the new Nintendo Wii system which is lauched in Dec this year.
This console is set to take the gaming world by storm. The new style controllers are said to be easier and more natural to use. So as you wave the controller through the air the same movement will be performed on screen. This is the console i am waiting to get.
The PS3 is set to be release next year but at a cost of £450 each and the limited amount available i doubt they will be as bigger hit and Sony would like. The Xbox is far more likely to continue to out strip them in sales.
Personally i am waiting to buy the Nintendo Wii console, this will be the most exciting advance forwards in the gaming world for some years and at a cost of around £170 and in a choice of colours (black or white) it is far more reasonable then other machines.
There are going to be many loyal Sony fans out there. This means that the PS3 will do well regardless.
However, I dont feel the PS3 will be any different to the Xbox360. The only difference will be the Blu-Ray drive and crisper ingame graphics.
The Blu-Ray can hold MUCH more data, meaning that DVD movies or video sequences in games will be full HD.
In game graphics will look slighly better compared to 360, mostly through a high end HDTV, etc.
The biggest turnoff with the PS3 is the price. I aint paying THAT much for it! Some people will I am sure?
Overall, you are not getting anything 'strikingly' different compared to the Xbox360. Thats my opinion, and I am sure people will disagree.
As for Nintendo, I never even looked into their 'Revolution/Wii' system until early this year. When I saw pictures and videos of the system and games I was very impressed. The Wii obviously isnt a powerhouse system.
It does has power behind it, but nowhere near the level of 360 and PS3. However, the Wii creates a new, revolutionary way to play games, and even serious gamers can still play it also. The Wii is much, much cheaper also and I am proud to admit that I am buying one on launch day.
Overall I feel Wii is the better system. However, once the PS3 reduces its prices it will soon pickup the pace I reckon. For me. I am getting the Wii (my brother has the Xbox360).
If I buy the PS3, what gains am I getting here? With the Wii, we have a combination of games along with my Bro's 360. However, Wii is my favourite system of all three.

Depends on what kind of games you are into. I have PS2 for myself for mostly racing games. A Gamecube for my girlfriend and her kids.
it depends how much money you hav!
well the ps3 is comin out soon but it will be expensive
and there is also the xbox 360 which i think is a bit cheaper
The best two game consoles I know are the Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft XBox 2. Both are really good but you have to actually try both to decide which one to get.
ps3, nintenmdo wii or xbox 360
The "best" console is. or will be, Playstation 3.
Here's a quick list of the current consoles in rough order of popularity, and the prices they cost:
1. Playstation 2, £100 approx.
2. X-Box 360, £250 approx.
3. PSP (playstation portable), £145 approx.
4. X-Box, £100 approx.
5. Nintendo Wii, £170 approx.
6. (UK release March 2007) Playstation 3, £425 approx.
Quite frankly it all comes down to several factors:
1. Budget - Under £150: Playstation 2 best for indoors, PSP best for mobile entertainment, Nintendo Wii best if not bothered about having great graphics and games. £150 - £250: Xbox 360 overall best. £400 plus £45 a game: Playstation 3, although expensive, will overall be the best console. Remember that games cost money too! You're looking at £25 - £45 a game no matter which console you buy.
2. value for money - Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, then PSP. Although this is highly debatable.
3. Technology - Definitely the Playstation 3, but expensive. Then, a far 2nd, Xbox 360.
4. Power - Again, the Playstation 3 boasts the best processing power and graphical ability, but this is nothing without games to match. However, the games, like with any console, aren't expected to be accurate representations of the console's power until many months after release date; so no big deal how games fare initially.
5. Games available - The PS2 since Playstation has been around for 12 years, with developers and games producers having much experience in the area, unlike the Xbox/Xbox360. The PS3 is expected to continue this massively, but it's not out in the UK yet! Arguably, though, the Wii and Xbox have great games as well, just not quite the variety and classics that were born, and, in most cases, have stayed with, the Playstation brand.
6. Price - Prices range massively, from the £99 PS2/Xbox, through the £150 mark for PSP, then £170 for Nintendo's Wii, the £250 ish mark for Xbox 360 to the expensive and powerful PS3 towering at £425.
The new "console wars" raging away just now is between Xbox 360 (released Nov.2005), Nintendo Wii (release date Dec. 9th 2006 in UK) and the PS3 (to be realeased March 2007 in the UK but official Sony spokesman for PS3 in Europe won't confirm).
If money's a big enough issue, but you still want great games, graphics as well as online play (at a price) then get an Xbox360. The Nintendo Wii doesn't rely on power at all, and is aimed at innovation and a younger audience.
If money's no major factor, or you want the best of the best, then get a PS3 as soon as you can.
