dont go for plasma go for lcd, plasma tvs only last a shhort time
Panasonic
I would go for The Sony. My brother had a Phillips it was nothing to write home about, when it broke down he bought a Sony, much better picture. Mine is a Sony I love it.
Personally I would buy a Samsung.

I have three Samsung lcd screens in a range of sizes, and I find the contrast and brightness to be among the best on the market.
My Pioneer 42" plasma's still going strong after 2 years. Theres all sorts of urban myths about them failing, needing recharges of gas etc which are only true of the really early ones. Go with what you fancy, but beware of eye strain they can be a bit much to take in. They also produce quite a bit of heat which isnt good in summer.
Why do you want a plasma when lcd are much better? I recently bought a 42" samsung lcd and my hd sky is brilliant on it. Lcd lasts longer and has more pixels. I went to comet and got change from £1500.
IF you go Phillips, go with their Ambilight model, they are amazing. The light helps your eyes and makes the tv look much bigger & brighter. Personally, I prefer LCD, they run cooler, no burn in potiential and are very energy efficient.
Try LG I think they invented the technology ..I know there one of the biggest manufacturers in the world.
Check out some reviews in some av magazines..Also lcd screens are supposed to be better in terms of burn out and flicker free..
