Is it worth buying a sub?
Got B&W 602.5 floorstanders & powerful Yamaha Amp. Would I see any real benefit in getting a sub? If yes, would does anyone recommend?

I look forward to answering questions like yours. I guess you could say loudspeakers are my forte. :-)
Okay.
Your speakers are somewhat lacking in the bass category, so a good powered subwoofer will be an excellent supplement and will significantly augment the lowest octave of bass extension in your system.
Before I give you some considerations to choose from, I have some recommendations for set-up that will work across the board pretty much no matter which powered subwoofer you choose. First, start by placing the sub in a corner for greatest efficiency, then adjust the sub's volume and crossover setting to best integrate with your 602.5's (start the crossover point at 50 Hz, where your speaker's lower limit is and adjust from there accordingly) to your taste in your listening position. See if your powered sub comes with a subwoofer cable, and if not, choose a good quality cable with shielding for quiet operation.
Ok, here's some choices that I recommend (lowest to highest retail price -actual market price may be variably lower).
Hsu Research STF-2 (my choice for best value)
BIC Acoustech H100
NHT Classic 10
Definitive Technology SuperCube III (lowest bass response)
B&W ASW 675 (matching visually)

I like the foot long subs with turkey and ham the best!!
Not a good idea. For one thing, the only Subs on the market are old WW2 diesel models and they need too much maintenance. AND. have you even PRICED the cost of torpedos these days?.
I'd say don't buy any subs. too expensive.
Can you say an entire word?. It's a sub WOOFER.! How do you expect anyone to know what you are talking about when you are too lazy or too stupid to SAY AN ENTIRE WORD.!
a sub base will help to ground the sound . you will notice a difference
Oh. Your talking about a submarine. Well, If I was you, I wouldn't get it becuase, where would you park it?
I doubt it would benefit that much. It's already ported and has a good sized woofers rated down to 50HZ. If the crossover is decent, you should be getting good bass. Only possible drawback is being limited to 100 watts but if the speakers are efficient, it should be OK.
Your neighbours will really appreciate a sub.
Go out an buy one but dont move next door to me
do you want more bass.I got a 10" Infinity 500 watt powered sub and yeah it makes some bass.though I also have 2 12" towers with all the midrange I don't know you decide.
Buying a sub for your speaker system may not add much to your system. Not familiar with your particular speakers , but I know B&W makes good quality speakers, it may not go as low as a with a sub , but if you are happy with the way it sounds on music , it probably won't add much to the sound on movies either.
If you don't have surround sound I would wait until then to add a sub.
If you like bass, yes. I belong to a couple hometheater forums on the internet and everbody likes SVS. I even own one - 20-39PC+.

I know it might be concerning buying it from the internet but it is worth it. The one I have is awesome. It is pretty darn big but it sounds excellent.
The sub would take some of the lows off of your loudspeakers letting them concentrate on the mid-bass. The sub would also add more depth to the sound and make it feel like you are actually there. Just make sure you don't turn the sub up too much or it will overpower your speakers. Your Yamaha amp should have a sub-out connection and this is the best signal. I have a Paradigm PDR 10 sub and it is awesome. You don't need too much power on one either.
It would be very worth it.A subwoofer brings a stereo to life.
Yes, definitely get a sub and Yamaha has new floor firing, quad directional subs that are amazing. They don't have to go in a corner anymore to get that room filling bass and aren't too hard on the pocket book.
