Do i need a hd ready tv if i subscribe to sky?

no not unless you subscribe to sky hd, which will be about £10 extra a month with a new decoder
Not unless you subscribe to the HD channels. An extra way for Sky to screw us all out of money!

But if you want to receive the HD channels you will need a HD TV.
only if your going to go for their HDTV package
If you want to watch HDTV, you will need
1) a TV which displays HD
2) an input connected via the correct leads to your HD TV
3) a HD picture source (sky HD, or a HD (blu-ray) DVD player, playing HD DVD's)

sky currently charge extra for their HD channel
