Cafe Raj

One of the best, if not the best value for money Brick Lane area eateries that I've visited-but more importantly the food is delicious - the Bangladeshi dish Ureebisi Gatta was very tasty as was the Aloo Masala. Good, soft naan which didn't dry up in minutes like the norm and a pleasant lemon fried rice.
Mcdonalds.
Not sure if it's still there but we used to go to the Stockpot. A very cheap and cheerful 3 course meal. The only thing is you have to go almost as soon as you have finished as there is always a queue. It's not fine dining but a good hearty meal for very little money.
I love Hummus Bros in Soho: http://www.hbros.co.uk/

Only one type of dish (although lots of flavours) but totally unique and you can have a filling meal for £5. Fantastic for vegetarians too.

Check out Bistro 1 in Covent Garden for inexpensive food in a usually expensive area: http://www.coventgarden.uk.com/rrbistro1.
transport cafe.
Cafe Emm - Soho
