When applying to university is an A level in Pure Mathematics as valuable as an A level in Mathematics?

I don't think it makes much difference to be honest. if you are applying to to a Maths degree, you will have to do both pure and applied regardless. I have Maths A level and when i applied, there were no specifications as to pure, applied, etc.
So, as far as the University are concerned, if you have any maths A level, you should be able to do a degree. but, from your point of view, you might be slightly behind when it comes to the actual content of the degree program! but dont worry, it is fine at first, everyone has to start at the same level, so they let you start from the basic AS level.

It really depends on what you are applying to do at university. On the face of it, A levels in any given subject will carry the same weight depending on the proposed course. Surely, if you are considering an A level in Pure Maths you will also be taking just Maths as well? On a purely anecdotal level, I was at school with someone who did A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Pure Maths and Geometric Maths, he went on to study Chemistry at University. I guess if you are considering a Pure Maths A level then it shouldn't add too much to your workload to do Maths as well?
It depends what you are applying for. I think one A level Maths against another isn't a big difference. It will be preferred by Science and Social Science courses to the all the A levels in Drama and Pottery that seem to pop up these days
