Has anyone done a TEFL course?

how did you find it? how long did it take? did it prepare you, how much is it and is it worth doing?

Answers:
I did one about seven years ago in Oxford House College, Barcelona. It was an intensive course and cost about 1000€, the course was interesting as an introduction to teaching, but like anything, the real learning begins in the class.

One thing I would suggest however, is that if your English grammar isn't up to scratch I'd start studying. You can't teach someone something that you don't know yourself (a defect I've seen in too many TEFL teachers)
I did a Trinity TESOL course in Colchester, Essex six years ago. It cost about £900. It was an intensive course, so it was very tiring for nine weeks, but I learnt a lot and it's certainly helped me in my job.
I did it in Aston University, in Birmingham, UK.
I found it on-line, it lasted one week, it really prepared me and was worth it, it cost about £200, for the course plus the test, last year.
Yes I have ----- it was part of my degree (Applied Linguistics) so I can't say how long without that

But it can be a lot of fun to do and the money is good if you get a good placement, especially over the summer ---- also, the kids treat it as a kind of holiday, so it is not really very hard work - provided you are conscientious and prepare properly in the first place
