How do you say 'what is your name?' 'and my name is.' in German??

I mam stuck on my German homework and i left my books in my locker by mistake! PLEASE help! i need an answer by Monday!

my name is = Mein name ist (mine narmer ist)

n.b. You use the word Dein for 'your' only if the person is a friend , family member or someone known well to you. You use Ihre for 'your' if the person you are talking to is someone you have just met, or a stranger. It is considered impolite to use 'dein, if you have only met them. HTH

Literally it's "Was ist dein Name?" and "Mein Name ist.", but in German you'd rather say "Wie heißt du?" und "Ich heiße."
"Wie Heisst du?" literally means "what are you called?" but is used as "what is your name?" Ich bin. or Ich heisse is "I am" and "I am Called"

Depending on your relationship to the person, it would be 'Wie heissen Sie?' or 'Wie heisst Du?'.

'Wie heissen Sie?' to an older person or person in authority, 'Wie heisst Du?' to a peer.

The reply is 'Ich heisse..'.

The ss of heissen is actually a special German character - I cannot do it on my computer.
