Why is it called the funny bone but when you whack it it is anything but funny?
Answers:
cos its medical name is the humerus i think
Because some laughing boy med student who first found it called it the humerus. (apologies for spelling)
I've always wondered that myself! I agree. Not funny at all! :)
it is kept in a "funny"/ odd place nahh.. idk. yeah.. its name is like humerus i think.. so humerus/ humerous
Because the name of the bone itself is the Humorus Bone.
the medical name for the bone is the humerus (sounds like humerous, or funny)
It is funny to others watching.
coz it's called the humerus
Its coz its real funny for the person whos whacking u!
It's located next to the humorus.
I think every one around you when you hit it thinks it's funny..maybe that's why!
because it's funny when it's someone else is going owww sh*t f*ck that hurt
It's called the humerus and it makes everyone else laugh when you wack it.
lol
This part of the ulnar nerve is known as the funnybone for two reasons: because of its proximity to the humerus (and the similar word "humorous"), and because of the mild pain and tingling throughout the forearm associated with sudden compression of the nerve at this point.
nar its because when u whack it other people find your agony funny
Everytime I hit mine someone else laughs maybe that is why, but I think it has something to do with the scientific name. ♥
Because of its proximity to the humerus bone (humorous --get it?--)
I agree, there ain't nuthin' funnee about it!
p.s. it ain't th' bone but the ulnar nerve that runs near the end of the humerus bone.
yeah it is funny.
Due to the fact that it is a funny shape and the sensation is sooooo funny you want to cry!
The funny bone is meant to be tickled not whacked.
lol
Because the actual name is humerus (probably spelt that wrong)
Because everyone else sniggers at your discomfort lol
the bone is called humerus.but dont you think when you hurt it there.it does feel funny.you dont get that funny feeling anywhere else when you hurt..only that place..maybe thats why they call it funny bone lol..
Its actaully a nerve that runs down the arm to the hand. It runs along the humerus bone, hence funny (humerous) bone.
It may be the humerus that is in the area, but what the reference to is not the bone itself. The term "funny bone" come from when you strike that area just above the elbow. There is a nerve there (the same one a doctor hits with his little hammer when testing your reflexes) that reacts and feels weird when you hit it on something.
It's because, when you whack it, you go,
"Ahhh ha ha ha ahh ha ha ha ahh ha ha ha!"
I defy you not to.
Because the name of that bone in Latin is the humerus, the bone runs from the shoulder to the elbow. But it's a nerve at the elbow end which is what causes the uncomfortable feeling when you knock it.
2 reasons:
1. Sometimes if dont whack it hard it feels all funny (wierd funny)
2. Some people find it funny when u hurt yourself. laughing at ur stupidity etc.
It may not be funny to you, but its funny to people watching.
Well let's start out by calling it by it's actual name:
Ulnar Nerve
- a nerve that runs down the arm and forearm, then into the hand.
There actually two reasons for it's nickname (funny bone):
1.
Because it's oddly close to the humerus
- which sounds alot like "humerous"
2.
And because of the 'funny' tingling feeling that happens from
sudden pinch of the nerve at that specific point.
By the way, by "funny"
they don't mean,
"ha-ha"
they mean,
"Oh that's weird"
But you know, they can't call it "weird bone"
