Everybody in the army complains about it but when you leave you see exactly how shite civvy street is so you re-enlist and go back in. Marriage is the same people get divorced because they hate marriage but then they get married agian because they hate being alone

To me it means they get married once, divorce then try it again. Clever way of putting it I must say. lol
As a veteran I had to laugh at this. If you are asking, you probably are not a veteran, or your not married. Everyone talks about how horrible the army is and their going to get out. All they want is to go home. But at the end of their contract, many people sign another contract (called reenlisting) for another 3-5 years. The reality is that most of the people in the army cannot function outside of that rigid environment. Even though they complain about it all the time, they really like it.

Married people do the same thing. They complain about how bad thier spouse is, but when they are given the chance to leave, or for the spouse to leave, they stay and hold tight on to the spouse.

Everbody complains about the army when they are in it. People also complain about a marriage. But many people re join the army or re marry.
It means you marry, then often times those who divorces will re-marry. There's another saying "Once bitten, twice shy". Which is for all those who marry and then divorce and are then afraid to re-marry.
We can't wait to get married, then all we do is complain, then we get divorced, but then most divorcees remarry.
In the army it being hard work too everyone complains, but when they leave they sign back up because they are institutionalised.
Marriage is an institution-for the blind and deaf, you have to be blind(love is blind)and deaf(much nagging)or you don't stand a chance.
Because those that reenlist cannot handle living life independently. They need someone or something else to help to make the decisions for them.
