Why is the plural of sheep.. sheep and not sheeps?
Answers:
It's an exception as many others . must there be a reason to that ?
It's sheep as in look at all those sheep in the field there!
I don't know, but I love sheep. All of them.
For the same reason the plural of Moose is Moose and not Meese.
Just like the plural of fish is "fish." Or like the above guy mentioned about Moose.
Because the english launguage was made by man
again I haven't got an answer, but it is like VASE the plural is VASE.
Because is so..
Because that's how the English language works.
Because it has a set of double (repeating) vowels?
Moose - Moose
Deer - Deer
BECAUSE IT'S A COLLECTIVE NOUN , LIKE FRUIT, FISH ..etc.
THE WORDS CAN BE PLURALISED IN A WAY e.g. fruits of your labour,
the (PL)sheeps' grazing area..
