Good luck.

I think he means he is not a character in society that people admire or wish to be. He is talking about a character that is not a good character, not friendly, maybe evil..not a pillar of society?!

I think thats what it is referring to!
it means he is not a popular person. Not many people like him.
Although I studied that play for english A-level myself, it was a while ago and I can't remember it very well. It is true that senility starts in your twenties..

One good way to earn extra brownie points and beef up your essay a bit is to concentrate initially on what "well-liked" actually means, before trying to apply it to the context of the play or character itself. You can write a chunk on that after your introduction as a starting point. Does it mean simply popularity? And what is popularity - likeability? Someone who is witty? Respected? Worshipped? The art of a good english essay is well-structured waffle. Trust me, I got an A.
