3-2 sqrt x = 7?

i get confused by the - sign

Answers:
3 - 2*sqrt(x) = 7

So, it's 3 minus (2 times the square root of x) equals 7

3 - 2*sqrt(x) = 7
3 - 2*sqrt(x) = 7
-2*sqrt(x) = 4
sqrt(x) = -2
[sqrt(x)]^2 = -2^2
x = 4
surd form.

3 minus (2xsquare root of something) = 7

3-7=2sqrtx

(3-7)/2=root x

((3-7)/2)^2=x

(-4/2)^2=x

-2^2=x

4=x
Read it as 3 - (2 * sqrt x)
3-2 root x=7
-2 root x=4,squaring both sides
4x=16
x=16/4=4
minus 5 for question add 2 to me,i let u work the rest out
3 - 2root x = 7
- 2 root x = 4
root x = -2
x = 4
3-2*sqrt x = 7
-2*sqrtx=4
sqrtx=-2 (divide all by -2)
x = 4
