How can i increase my attnetion span when it comes to uni work?? i cant concentrate on it for more than 20mins

Answers:
Thats about average. So do 20 mins then get up, have a cuppa and a walk around then do another 20 mins. You will be much more productive this way than trying to work for hours in one go.
One of the best ways I have found for increasing my attention span is to
Sleep! If you're anything like me, you've re-read the same page of a textbook over 3 different cups of coffee and still don't remember what it's about. Get a decent night's sleep and keep your vitamin and carb levels up.
Eat some fish and drink more water. Many studies say its good for you.Increasing you activity with exercise with energise your body more and not make u lethargic. Its okay to take breaks, but avoid caffeine, it gives you a short term boost, but then it falls right back down again.Get an exercise bike in the room, I found that helped alot.Taking up a martial art is great at uni, I did that and it gets ur aggression out when your annoyed about bloody coursework and other frustrations in life. Whatever works for you its about the lifestyle you will lead.
try and schedule regular breaks - get up from your work and take a short walk, make sure that you eat regular meals and try hard to stick to regular sleep pattern (not exactly easy with student life eh?) good luck xx
Make sure you eat well and varied, lots of vegetables and fish (or take vitamin and omega 3 tablets). Sleep at least 6 hours a night, but preferably between 7-9 hours, try not to sleep more than 10 hrs though, even if you have not slept enough the night before, as more than 10 hours can actually make you more tired.
Also try to get in a regular rythm, go to bed and get up at roughly the same time everyday.
Drink lots of water and excersize regularly.

If you do all the above, you will probably notice that your attention span will increase within a couple of weeks. Also, it is good, when studying, to switch subjects regularly, and to take a walk every now and again.
Try not to eat a heavy meal right before, or during studying as your body will be so busy digesting the food that there will be very little energy left for your mind to concentrate.
Eat some pasta, a sandwich or a jacket potato and beans. You need fuel before you can concentrate properly. Then find yourself somewhere to work where there are no distractions, no tv, no music, no people. Get all of your study materials together in your working area before you start. Decide what you're going to do, and set yourself a specific goal - ie finishing an essay plan, revising a certain topic for an exam etc. Study for 40 minutes, then have a 10 minute break and get yourself a cup of tea, walk about and let your brain organise itself. You obviously know how to study, or you wouldn't have got into Uni. You just need to set aside the distractions (which are natural, as being at Uni is a big change in your life), focus, and just DO the work, as you know you can. Schedule your breaks or you'll burn out, but be strict with yourself about going back to the work. And set yourself a time for going out/socialising afterwards, as a reward for your efforts, and because that too is an important part of Uni life. It's just a matter of separating work and play, but keeping the balance between the two. Good luck.
