Hindu's beliefs "why people suffer"?

Answers:
In Hinduism, many believe that suffering is a result of past-life greed, hatred, and spiritual ignorance, which returns as suffering (karma). Coping with suffering is sometimes viewed as valuable in furthering spiritual growth. Suffering is also seen as illusory, in that it results from attachment to bodily pleasure and pain, and only the Absolute, or God, truly exists.
they are paying for previous actions or from another life.
wrong, wrong, wrong.. not cause of karma or a past life. Suffering is caused by desire, desire is caused by pleasure, to be rid of pleasure is to be rid of desire is to be rid of suffering. Then you can achieve release from your cycle of rebirth and achieve nirvana which some say is nothingness and just release from the suffering. Thus they live ascetic lives and take no pleasure.
if u have read the night of the scorpion it is clearly mentioned that ppl think that it is the effect of ur sins in ur previous births and with the sufferings these sins wash out .
People suffer because of the misunderstanding, we think we are the lord of everything, we can eat anything and do whatever we want to achieve or pursue anything and whatever we do (karma) it will come round. eat meat and you will be sent to a battlefield.
