Why is cider known as bulmers in ireland and magners everywhere else?

Answers:
Bulmers is originally an English company, and is the largest cider maker in the world. It sells its cider in the UK mostly under its brand names such as Strongbow and Woodpecker.

Its Irish arm, which produced cider for sale in Ireland under the Bulmers name, de-merged from it many years ago but continued to have rights to the Bulmers name in Ireland. They aren't allowed to use it in England (Bulmers UK reserve that right), so they use the Magners name here.

"Bulmers Ltd of Clonmel, Ireland is not connected with HP Bulmers Ltd of Hereford, UK. Bulmers Original Vintage Cider produced by Bulmers Ltd of Clonmel, Ireland is sold outside the Republic of Ireland under the name Magners Original Irish Cider." - from the Magners website.
Its not. You have your marketing mixed up. Bulmers make ciders. Magners is a cider
Just the brand I think!
2 different brands love
its just the name of the company that produces them..bulmers cider has been around a lot longer, so they are allowed i suppose to pick and choose names etc..
bulmers is a brand name, magners is a brand name.
it's the same reason that vacuum cleaners - which always used to be refered to as 'Hoovers' are now sometimes called 'Dysons', regardless of the manufacturerer
Bulmers and Magners are brands of rather commercial cider. THer are other makes of cider which are more commercial and others which are more traditional. Personally I'm a fan of Westons! Proper Cider! Oooooh Aaaaarrrrrrr!
They're not two different brands and you don't have your marketing mixed up.

I can't give you a reason but Magners IS known as Bulmers in Ireland but they are trying to change it to Magners here now too. If you noticed some of the TV ads now are for Magners so it'll be done bit by bit, to get people used to it I suppose.

Personally and not what you asked at all I prefer the name Bulmers!
That's just the name of the brewers. Both are good though.
it's 2 different ciders both from Ireland we used to sell both in the pub where i worked
i just went on to yahoo search and typed in- is bulmers cider the same as magners cider -the page that i went into showed me that they are different brands of cider, do that and you can read it for yourself, hope it helps answer your question
Magners and Bulmers are made by the same brewers in the same brewery in Co. Tipperary, Ireland.

It is sold out of the Republic of Ireland under a different name Magners.
Bulmers is the name of the company in Ireland. When they introduced the cider to the uk there was a cider company already called bulmers in the uk. Somewhere in the southwest. They had to change the name to magners, there is no difference between the magners and the irish bulmers whatsoever.

Bulmers and magners are trade names not cider names.

Have a nice day.

Mike G. (above) has the right answer!
Its not they are two completely different brands, its just that in Ireland Bulmers is a more marketed and more popular brand and "everywhere else" Magners is more marketed and more popular.
