Wine rocks.of course in moderation. But, I shop for it's eclectic flavors and textures. They say to let it breathe by swirling it around in the glass. It's all part of the tasting technique. that's all

Red wine reacts to air. If you give the wine time to do that (breathe) then you'll get better taste and aroma.
Because it needs to react with air to fully develop the flavour.
It's also why you decant red wine, the decanting gets it reacting with air.

That argument is flawed as BOTH wines have been decanted, the decanting will have more effect on aerating the wine than the time it has to breathe.
Now if they had said decant one, and not the other, it would have been a valid argument - but they couldn't use that as it does change the taste.

Yes.as corny as it sounds it's true. Go by a big (meaning taste) red wine taste it and let it sit and taste it again. It's much better.
