Why are icecream containers unopenable by ordinary mortals?

Those horrible modern plastic lids take half an hour to figure out how to open and another half hour to prise apart. It must be impossible for those with arthritis or the mildest of handicaps.

Answers:
Icecream containers are unopenable by mortals for two reasons.

1) They are assembled by machines. The machines hates us and wants us to suffer because they cannot eats the icecreams my precious! (Sorry, don't know where Gollum came from)

2) The manufacturers have to ensure that the icecream reaches the distributer in a sealed state. As icecream can be affected by exposure they have to ensure that the lids cannot become loose during transit. The offset is that they are a bugger to open.
I agree
It is pretty ridiculous.
It is the ice cream manufacturer's way of telling you that you are a fatty and lay off the ice cream.
Ice cream containers are horrendous to open, what a good question.
If it takes YOU 30 minutes to open the thing, there's something wrong with YOU. I'm handicapped with arthritis, and I have NO trouble opening anything. What drugs have you been smoking, TARD??
Yup and by the time you get the dang thing off the icecream is melting and what was on the lid drips all over place.. It's a conspiracy !
My favorite trick - for a half-gallon (more or less) container of ice cream - zap it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Works like a charm to thaw the tiniest outermost layer.
Either your mildly retarded or you have stubs for hands. Honestly , work out a bit.
Well it's obvious isn't it! It isn't called.. I scream, for nothing! :-)
mainly because they are closed by machines..
I totally agree with you -- they are wretched! The up side is that you burn some calories just trying to get the stupid thing open!
they are sealed so well to prove they haven't been tampered with, blame the animal rights protesters that used to go round sticking glass and other nasty things in food
stop smoking weeds

Oh, I know just what you mean! It has been bothering me for ages! So hard to open things these days. Must be to keep them fresher.
It's all about the profitability and technology to keep ahead of a competitor, and has nothing to do with what the consumer needs or wants. How sad.
