Is Pernod the worst drink ever invented by man?

very possibly. Think they sell it under different names to lure you into drinking it too. Many years ago while eating in a nice restaurant,I ordered fish in a 'Ricard' sauce because I was too embarrassed to ask what it was.and ended up with a mouthful of Pernod flavoured fish! Still traumatised.
to be honest i have never tried it but i do like the smell of it.

Yep, I know what you mean. That and Galliano but I think pernod is worse. It's like liquid black licorice (though different color) and anise extract. I'm not sure if it's the worst, but it certainly rates.
Nope, after reading the following review, I think I've found something worse still (Not that I've tried either)..

It isn't the worse, but you really have to be careful not to have even ONE too many, if you do, you may never want to touch it again. You may also find a queue of dogs following you around, because of the smell of aniseed.
possibly-ive drunk many a drink over the years and the weird thing about pernod is that it tastes exactly the same coming up as it did going down-its such a pungent taste that it stays with you for days.i would also like to include malibu in this simply because one night a long time ago i was forced to drink malibu with milk as my mate said it was great and we had no other fluids in the fridge with which to water it down a little-it was the worst nights sleep i ever had and not only was i sick but i also had malibu smelling number twos for around 3 days afterwards.there are loads of other pernod type spirits around greece and cyprus which are equally as bad but you kind of accept that because its made by people as a cheap local grog-therefore its bound to be a little rough-what pernods excuse is i do not know!!
Depends on your taste.
I used to love it mixed with Coke it has a very nice taste of liquorice. The only thing is that it is very sweet and you don't realise you actually drink alcohol so to drink with moderation :-)

oh no. i love the stuff, and have drunk since i was 18 or 19.and im now 49. its great mixed, and its got lots of names, ouzo being one.. try a glug or two with fresh orange juice. and teh worst drink fine grappa. worse than jack daniels, tastes awful and makes me want to barf.

no peach scnapps, it is about a million miles away from the original
scnapps, at least with pernod you get a market driven drink. that is as good if not better than the original liqueur. regards LF
Oh my god used to drink gallons of the stuff, pint of Snakebite,(half a lager half a cider) with a pernod and black in it.Red Witch.. that was in the late 80's early 90's pubs wont even serve you a snake bite now let alone with pernod in it.
Used to drink pernod and coke too, looks a relly awful colour but you didnt need many to get you p****d.

I used to drink a lot of Pernod but stopped, as too much used to make me feel like my bones were grinding together and that was not very nice . Try Harvey Wall Banger that's really nice.

I agree Pernod is awfaul.. how ever I can assure you the worst spirit is Barley wine.(it is a spirit name is miss leading) or Pony wine.. Strongest drinks you can buy in a pub.. great for drinking games at the pub however it is actually the only time you dont wat to win the hand as the shot is more like a quater of a pint
