Where did the phrase "benge drinking" come from?

Answers:
Do you mean binge drinking? Well to binge means to over do it drastically. Like bulimics binge and purge, alcoholics binge their drink. And probably purge it later, but not for the same reason bulimics purge what they ate.

BINGE drinking stems from the phrase binge which denotes excess or abnormal consumption/ indulgence as in food, shopping, etc.

I don't think you can drink from a Benge trumpet. At least the company doesn't reccomend it.

Binge drinking is another thing entirely.
Nowhere. It is called Binge drinking.
It means going on the Bevvy , getting blind drunk, pissed etc, etc.
Usually done at weekends by people who normally do not drink in the week, but drink to dangerous levels when they binge. Bit like fat people when they binge or gorge on food.
"binge" comes from the old roman word Bingeuas which means over the standard amount
I've no idea and know even less where "binge drinking" came from but at a guess it ould have originated somewhere in england.
benge, binge, bingo what difference does spelling make!
It used to mean being drunk for several days at a time, usually alone.

Now it means consuming 5 drinks if you are male and just 4 if you are a female.

I like the old definition better. It actually means something. I think that the new definition was embraced by the news media to scare people by making them think that their children are in danger when they go to college.

I think that it's a plot by people who want to make us think that we need to be protected from ourselves.
