What is an acceptable time of the day to start drinking?

I usually have a vodka & coke around 9.00pm, put my slippers on and watch a bit of telly.

Answers:
when you get up with your curlers in and take in the mail
If you drink before 12pm . i believe that constitutes to alcoholism haha
Anywhere between waking up and going to sleep is a good time
It's 5:00 somewhere.
any time as long as you dont abuse
11:59am
Afternoon is fine I say. . . .Depends on the situation.
9.00pm is a great time to have a drink, especially if you are not working the next day or you just had a crap day at the office. But seen as its Friday i'll be heading to the pub straight after work.
on a night out/weekend around 7.00pm i start drinking , on a sunday, wine with dinner somethimes, but thats about it, i dont drink anythink else
I'm going fishing tomorrow.

My buddies and I have an unwritten rule - no beer drinking before 8:00AM. Otherwise you look like an alcoholic!

(We start drinking at 8:01AM!)
about 2pm if your going on an all-dayer - those sessions that just crop up that aren't planned are the best.
depends , when we went to the races it was 11am , on a friday night if im not working in the day its 4pm, tonight is gonna be about 7 or 8. or if i wake up p1ssed its a shame to waste it so just carry on .
before my mother in law died she would sit there until it was exactly 1pm before she got the whisky and water out.
When on the boat we only drink when the sun is below the spreaders.
Well, it's always noon somewhere in the world, but you may have an issue there.
I would say after 6pm.
I don't think there's a hard and fast rule . personally I fall asleep in the afternoon if I drink at lunchtime, so I prefer evenings.

If that's the earliest you have a drink then that's fine . on a night out I guess you start when your mates start so any time is a good time!
hm if you're alone that's a bit sad, drinking on your own..
you almost make me cry
it is 5:00 somewhere
Hold your arm out stright from your body, can you see the sun above your arm ? Go on have a drink. The sun is over the yard arm.
10am the pubs are open, so why not,

acceptable to whom?

Christmas day sees me with a bottle of wine open at 7am
After 5pm. I like a glass of white wine any time from around lunch on though. A smooth scotch on the rocks helps the evening flow nicely.
Well I usually have a drink once I know I don't have to drive anymore. ie/ 6.15 - ish with my meal if I am not going back out or 8.15 - ish if I have to pick up my hubby from work.
It's a way to wind down and say 'thank god the days over'
When the sun is over the yard arm - normally at this time of year about 11.00am which is convenient since most pubs are open by that time.
well wen me n my friends go out its usually about 7 to 8pm we have a drink b4 leaving the house it starts u off 4 a great night out!
That sounds acceptable, as long as your not actually still at school!
Beer thirty : ) I have a beer after work 5:00pm BUT starting today NO MORE BEER It's starting to show ( gut & butt ) Wish me luck everyone! If your haveing your drink at 9:00pm in front of the telly thats good, NO DUI's that way.
what do u mean start drinkin, why do ppl stop?
It depends.

On a workday, having a drink at lunch is OK, and anytime after work is OK.

On a weekend, any time after noon is perfectly acceptable.

If you're on holiday, it is acceptable, IMO, to start drinking after your first cup of coffee (or tea) in the morning. Before then would be boorish!
Whatever time you feel is acceptable trust your own judgement
like when it starts getting gloomy, around 6:30?
Firstly, I assume you're a teacher and not a pupil! Before I gave up drinking, people used to come to me for lessons - on what time to start drinking, for as long as there was d, an a or a y in the day of the week, ANYTIME was drinking time! I would think nothing of getting home from a night-shift at six in the morning and get the top of the scotch bottle - and it used to evaporate so quickly.
However, on a more serious (and sober!) note, I think that the time you start drinking really DOES depend on your work patterns rather than much else. It's no good saying "a good time to start is 8pm" if you're a driver - you'd be over the limit next morning, so the sensible things to consider are 1): How much are you likely to want to drink, and 2): when do you next have to drive or work. If you don't have to drive, then consider how your work performance will be affected (if at all). I gave up a few years ago from a litre and a half of scotch every day, and prior to that I was so used to drinking so much that a certain colleague at work asked me if I was ill one day when I turned up sober! In your case, I doubt whether you'd want your pupils to see you half cut, and I wouldn't dream of thinking that you would present yourself in such a condition anyway, so why not start earlier and stop earlier if you enjoy a little drink or three. That way, next day nobody will be any the wiser! In the meantime to all drinkers, please drink wisely and enjoy it.
