Anything that brings back memories of my mothers cooking .The smells of fresh baked bread and sweet rolls would fill the air and her singing as she cooked the most wonderful meals.
Got to be chinese - it's so varied! There's veggie, curries, noodles, rice dishes, meat and fish dishes all cooked in so many different ways and techniques. Food is so important in the whole of the far east where people live to eat!
If you are talking about just one thing tho - I would say a nice PIE!! (maybe not normal chinese - but you can get really nice chinese beef curry pasties). Pies rule! One of the nicest I ever tried was a potato and cheese topped pie. It was a shortcrust pastry base, with a minced steak filling topped with cheese and mashed potato which was browned. I got it in a shop call Shakepere's in Whistler, Canada. It's actually an Aussie shop. So, so, so, so nice - I'm gonna make one soon myself with mushrooms in too!
