What happened to Tartan Special beer? Surely the finest ale ever produced. Now it seems to have vanished.?

Have the brewers stopped producing this?

Answers:
Strange ~ I was just looking for that yesterday! Great thirst quencher made by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries and sold as Younger's. In a lot of the pubs it was known as "A wee heavy". I haven't seen it around for a wee while now in the supermarket, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong one. I suppose it's more old fashioned now like Pale Ale. Lager seems to have taken over.
If it was Scottish and Newcastle, they were bought out so maybe no longer in production.
I am from Scotland (originally) and I remember it! Hope it has not vanshed!
I hope so,, it was vile (chemical- city) ,never seen it for ages ..
Poof!
if it waas nice, an lots of peeps buying it they still make it

perhaps it tasted like my urine
You can still buy Youngers Tartan Special Ale.

It certainly is not wonderful - but for a mass-produced beer it is quite drinkable.
it is still available both on draught and from supermarkets, normally only found in free houses or scottish and newcastle brewery owned public houses.
