What is happened to my cake?
I have baked a cake today - instead of buying it - using the old receipe of 4oz of dry mix and 2 eggs. Why did it only rise on one side and like a biscuit on the other. I think I should just go back to shop bought as the kids don't like custard!

Did you thoroughly mix the batter? You might want to have you ovens temperature gage checked for even heating. If this happens often you can manually turn the cake every 5 minutes but that's a pain. Hope I helped.
dry mix did you buy the mix did you use self raising flower
I suspect that there is some thing wrong with your oven, iether the gas or element is only heating on one side or the seal has gone on the door and letting the heat go out. Unless of course you teid a microwave in wich case probably the plate wasn't turning propery.
did you use regular flour or the self rise
u gave it ago good for you try again
Oven problem as above.
Cannot possibly be you. Hope you licked the spoon!
You can't have that pleasure if you go back to shop's own.
Hi did you spread the cake mix evenly in the tin, if you did perhaps there is a problem with the temperature in your oven.
It just goes to prove, you CANT have your cake and eat it !
uneven heat in your oven or uneven shelf causing oneside to be thinner so it cooked quicker then over cooked
YOU SAID YOU USED 4OZ DRY MIX AND 2 EGGS, DID YOU USE ANY BUTTER?
sounds like your cooker at fault but to prevent this happening yuo could keep turning the cake whilst in the oven but be careful as it will sink if you not quick to do this reduce the heat a little too and don,t place it at the top of the oven hottest there half way through cooking time turn the cake 45% so that rising is even if you add warm water to your cake mixture and have it to the consistency custard and it will make a more moist cake
try baking powder ,mine won`t rise without ,can`t hardly get them out of the oven ,they rise so high!
you need a new cooker.
did you spread the mixture then make a dent in the middle?
