In some recipes it has measurements of a cup. How much is this in ounces.?

I've recently been looking at some american recipes and need to adjust weights to onces.

Answers:
It depends whats going in the cup. For instance a cup of rice crispies will weigh a lot less than a cup of dry rice.

Look at the link below, it gives the weight for most foods, from Almonds, chopped to Wheat flour. Unfortunately for you the weights are in grams not ounces.
1 cup is equal to 8 ounces 1/2 cup = 4 ounces 1/4cup = 2 ounces
http://www.gumbopages.com/metric.html.
american weights and sizes differ from european ones. A cup in american baking will always be 8ounces, check your baking tins as the standard sizes in europe is different from standard american baking tins. also for future reference the american pound has 16 ounces. hope this helps
There are 8 ounces (oz.) in a cup.
1 cup is 8oz, 1/2 cup is 4oz. And of course, 2 cups is 16oz. I think most cook books have the equivalents usually in the back of the book before the index.
In America they use an 8fl oz measuring cup while in Australia it's a metric 250ml version. the imperial pint is used in Britain and Aust. which is 20 fl oz in America a pint is 16 fl oz. It all makes cooking more fun NOT.
A general rule of thumb is when measuring ingredients just use the same size cup and alter quantity inside according to the recipe a rough guide for dry goods is 1lb butter is equal to 2 cups American, 1lb flour 4 cups, 1lb sugar 2 cups 1lb icing sugar 3 cups 8oz rice 1 cup.
hope this helps, Have fun
Eight ounces!!!!
8 oz.
8 ounces in 1 cup
if you go to Tosca you can buy a little jug with all the measurements on. it only less than a pound 43p i think?
a cup is 8 oz
A cup is a measure of capacity (i.e. size) like a pint or a cubic metre.
So there is no answer to your question.
A cup of lead would weigh a lot more than a cup of feathers
