Help please?
i have trained as a british chef in italy, but than i was ashamed by the way our food is cooked. why do we british people cook very funny food? the only thing that we are good at is fish and chips, and i made a lot of research about the cooking methods of british food, and not every one is happy about it. we are not cooking very healthy either, we throw away the water that we boil our vegies in, we like eating from foreign restaurants because our food is never romantic, we like either indian because its spicy, we tend to duplicate chinese food and ends up spoiling the receipts of a good chinese meal. i know that not all british can cook bad, but the best british do not make even20% of the population. you can really count them just like that. am i going to be answered straight forward or should i wait for threatening messages or answers. further more the british shops like selling economical food, unless i have to buy foods from foreign brands to make a good meal. have a nice day

I'm in the US but have traveled thru England quite extensively and you are correct, the food is bland and fattening.
Jamie Oliver (we get his shows here in the US) does amazing things with foods that are difficult to find here, take a look at some of his books to get ideas.
Leave it out, my generation cooks. always have, and we cook properly. long before silly little boy cooks went to schools and tried to show us how. and we were taught by our parents. who, despite our so called bad diet in the UK, oddly, are the healthiest and oldest yet generation since the flood!
I raised six children with perfect physical health and and excellent teeth. on home cooked food!
Keep your foreign junk food and fancy wrappings. I'll stick to tradition and the old ways thanks very much!

Sorry, but I find your question a bit confusing, how do you train as a British Chef in Italy? I trained as a chef in Britain, and all the menus I worked from were in French, the language of the kitchen (why?) Britain has developed it's own distinct cuisine over the last 20 or so years, due to the influx of immigrants, but don't forget that curry has been part of the British menu (at least in the army) since the day's of the Raj in India. We now have some of the most recognised Chefs in the world (Gordon Ramsay in America, Jamie Oliver in Italy) and "British" food is to be seen on many top restaurant menu's. Items like Black Pudding and offal are popular, and we have some classic regional dishes such as the Cornish Pasty, Haggis, Pease pudding and Scotch Broth to name but a few.
Cooking is very much down to the individual, some people enjoy cooking, some see it as just another chore like ironing or cleaning, and these are the ones who will take the easy option, however I think the popularity of cookery programmes on T.V shows the amount of interest there is in "proper" cooking in this country.
If you don't like our way of cooking I suggest you stick with Pizza and Spaghetti.
It depends on taste, foods need cooking in order to be digestable, some people actually like plain foods, whatever keeps you healthy or happy..I think your question is what should you do, I think you should continue as a British food chef, you have not made a mistake, if I'm not concentrating on anything else I quite enjoy British food.
So, what is you're question exactly? Seems to me all you've done is moan about British food. We have the best food in the world, you're obviously not looking in the right place.
