What would be a good, cheap option for me to start making coffee at home?
I'm a coffee newbie and only really enjoy it from cafes. I don't like instant coffee so am looking to invest in somethin (no idea what) so I can make good coffee at home

You can make REAL coffee at home very easily and very simply with a caffietier. A caffietier is made from glass and has a simple plunger top, they come in all shapes & sizes. They cost from a few £'s to extremely expensive!!
**There are a huge range of different types of coffee's from different contries & continents, which coffee to use in your caffietier is down to personal taste and its very subjective and personal.
Look for fresh coffee beans that have been ground and usually these come in freeze dried packs and once open can be used straight away.
**You can find coffee from Arabia, Africa, South America, and even as far away as Papua Newginue.
**Some coffee's have very mellow flavours, some quite sharp and some quit bitter. Some have a powerful after buzz and some have little or no buzz at all.
**There's lots of choice, so go and buy a few different brands & types and try them out, its going to be trial & error to find one you like. But its a great process, so enjoy, enjoy!!
**If you want to buy ethically there are lots of fair trade coffees to choose from now too.

GO TO THE STORE, WALMART OR ANY PLACE AND LOOK AND SEE WHAT THEY HAVE. YOU CAN GET A COFFEE POT FOR ALL DIFFERENT PRICES. THE CHEAPER ONES ARE JUST AS GOOD. GO FOR IT AND START SAVING YOURSELF SOME MONEY.
buy a cheap mug, tesco value coffee, a kettle, a teaspoon, (sugar) oh, and make sure you can get to clean water through a tap
Buy a KRUPS Coffee maker (we have one thats lasted for years).. You can go to Costco (or any other Price Wharehouse), you can get Starbucks Ground or Whole Bean Coffee beans, (very cheap cost) you can then freeze some, and use the rest.
That should do it!

You can make an excellent coffee without investing in an expensive machine by getting a french press. Starbucks is one place to buy them (among many many other places), but what many people don't know is you can also use them at Starbucks. It's not on the menu, but you can order coffee in a french press. Try it, see if you like it, then buy one if you do. Just make sure you get your coffee ground for a french press--it needs to be a little coarser than drip.
Of course for best coffee you'll be grinding your own beans fresh, but you can take one step at a time and work your way up!

There are sites with this info on. Don't get conned into paying a fortune for a coffee machine. Actually a good coffee shop will give you tips and they also sell just about every bean on the planet. Not to be confused with coffee bars.
Try a coffee maker if you want to be cheap..Mr. Coffee is a good brand. Opt for one that has a self cleaning cycle and a good water filtration system to keep your coffee tasting decent. Oh and a small coffee grinder is a good investment as well because using beans rather than pre-ground stuff like Foldgers is sooo much better!
However, if you want to invest a little espresso machines are definitely a good choice. They also sell machines that make coffee, espresso and cappuccinos, but the more extras on the equipment then the more it's going to cost you.
you can find a reasonable (between 10-20 dollare) coffee pot at Walmart, Dollar stores. Just keep it clean, and it should be fine for someone just starting out.
