I grew up with my mom and grandparents calling them Chinese apples but it seems like the common name for pomegranate is pomegranate.

"Common Names: Pomegranate, Granada (Spanish), Grenade (French)."
Pomegranate is the common name for the tree/shrub 'Punica granatum'.
It is known as 'Granada' in Spain and 'Grenade' in France.
Pomegranate syrup is sold commercially as grenadine.
Pomegranate comes from the Latin words for "apple" (pomum) and "seed" (granatus) but is also called in some languages by another root resembling the word "ruman", "rimmon", or even "roma". It may also be the root of the word "grenade" which we got from the French. The seeds are used to make a spice called "anardana".

There is no other "common" word for pomegranate in English that I know of except --- pomegranate.
