In English conditions what is the best way to make coffee and what proportions should you use.?

Answers:
Define English conditions, cos I never heard of someone's nationality or location being a factor in making a good cup of coffee!
In Northern Ireland,I use freshly ground coffee (from bean coffee),fresh water, and usually my filter coffee machine,or sometimes the percolator. About 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup is ok,depending on Your taste for strong coffee.
depending on your taste -

1 heaped teaspoon of coffee then add your sugar (if required!)
add water from kettle then add your milk

then enjoy!
Depends on your need for caffeine, however a rounded teaspoon of coffee, followed by whatever sweetener you prefer, then add milk/cold water so as not to scorch the coffee before adding hot water.
best cup of coffee is made with a spoonful of instant kenco coffee then the milk goes in followed by the hot water, you cant beat it
Best cup o coffee i ever had was one with rum in it!
The way I do it, is put a teaspsoon of coffee in a cup, mix it with a little milk to bind it and trinkle on boiling water for it to froth up, its beautiful.
