In answer to your next question, I can't find anything on why it's called this. I can only assume, as it's usually done in a long rectangular baking tin, presumably for a number of people, that is was a special type of pork pie for special occassions, ie. galas.

Definitely Gala Pie, normally comes in a long version containing 4-5 whole eggs, end to end, surrounded by normal pork pie filling and crust. Very Tasty especially with brown sauce
