Who ever said healthy smoothies don't have to taste good? Whoever it was, you'll prove them wrong when you make this healthy smoothie recipe.
1 cup orange juice
1 cup frozen peaches
1 frozen banana, chunked
2 Tbs slivered toasted almonds
Add juice to electric blender, then add remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth. To toast almonds, spread in an ungreased baking pan. Place in 350 degree oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until almonds are light brown; stir once or twice to ensure even browning. Note that almonds will continue to brown slightly after removing from oven.

Blueberry Tofu Smoothie
Soft and creamy silken tofu is the tofu of choice for smoothies and shakes. If it isn’t available, you can substitute 2/3 cup of plain, low-fat yogurt. Feel free to boost the protein content of your smoothie by adding 1 or 2 teaspoons of wheat germ.
INGREDIENTS:
6 ounces silken tofu
1 medium banana
2/3 cup soy milk
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 tablespoon honey
2 -3 ice cubes, optional

I always mix my home made smoothies is a blender. 2 or 3 different kind of fruits with orange or apple juice. I never use any sugar. Just try out different mixes, only kiwi isnt really nice to mix with.
I use Silk chocolate soy milk(10oz), 1 banana and alternate other fruit, ie: strawberries, peaches, pinapple, usually about 1/2 cup each, blend till throughly mixed, its delish!
strawberry's and bananas r the best mix, buy a smoothie maker its the best buy i ever bought u can make loads put it in the fridge and get some whenever you want and its chilled which is even better.
smoothies are easy. get inventive. use different yogurts that have the properties your looking for, (vitamin enrichment, low sugars, etc.) any fruits you like you can throw in there, and if you are lacking any vitamins you can buy them from your local store and throw them in. some may change the taste or color of the smooth but most will be covered by the fruity flavor.
sugars are only one aspect of health. you might look into protein or calcium enrichment. everyone has different needs, since your making the smoothie find out from a health or fitness professional what your diet is missing and add it to your smoothie for a fresh and healthy treat.
also, you may get adventurous and research different types of smoothies other then fruit. like grass smoothies, or vegi-smoothies. a grass smoothie may not sound great tasting, but we aren't talking about a lawn in a glass, i mean alfalfa or wheat. Herbal and ethnic stores may be able to point you to some interesting grasses or herbs to add some interesting flavor and add a natural source of nutrients your body needs.

I've tried lots but come down to favourite:
I banana (essential), 1 pear, 1 peach, 10 raspberries, 10 blueberries, 10 (or 5 large) strawberries. Add plain yoghurt (2 Tsp), milk (of your choice) and fresh orange juice, to your taste. Squidge once, add ice and Squidge again. For me cold is essential and straws make it special. Honey is a decadent option.
rule 1: add 2 banana
rule 2: add 2 cups of ice
rule 3: add a handful of strawberries
rule 4: add 3 cups of milk
rule 5: add 1 cup of sugar
rule 6: blend, then enjoy!
P.S. drink with a straw it maybe thick
if thick add more milk or ice
Sounds strange but a slice of Wholemaeal or Granary bread shredded and put in with your fruit etc gives it a nice taste - and it's healthy.
A few shots of Vodka usually helps too - not so healthy though!
These smoothies have NO ICE, NO DAIRY, NO SUGAR
Use 8 ounces apple or orange juice as your liquid base
1 FROZEN banana as your "smoothie" base--chunked
Then get creative!
Add 8 FROZEN strawberries for a strawberry-banana treat OR
FROZEN peaches (with the orange juice base)
just add FROZEN fruit to your juice and FROZEN bananas
This is very good!
They use this recipe at a coffee shop in the Midwest.
Thats why smoothies are so great, you can put anything in and they will taste good.
You should definately use as a base no matter what.
PLAIN- unflavored yogurt (normally this tastes like **** but you are putting other stuff in anyway).
Skim milk. NEVER use juice as a base unless it is fresh squeezed. Over the counter tropicana and other ojs and grape juices and such have a huge amount of added sugar. They are a waste of money and unhealthy for you. Eat the real fruit.
Flaxseed powder and Whey protien powder (if you want to give it a more chocolate or vanilla taste get chocolate or vanilla whey powder).
Any kind of fruit will do here, but be carefull about adding too much banana as bananas tend to add a LOT of taste for a little bananna.
Oatmeal is also a great thing to add for extra nutrition and you don't even taste it. Don't bother cooking it, just get some raw quaker oats (not the instant kind) and toss a handfull in the blender.
Carrots tend to work as vegetables to add but carrots have a lot of sugar compared to other veggies. Get a vegetable juicer as well and add this to a smoothie.
