Answers:
75g of butter or margarine
50 - 75g light brown sugar
1 tablespoon of golden syrup
175g of porridge oats
Put the butter or margarine, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and stir over a low heat until the fat and sugar have melted. Add the porridge oats and blend thoroughly. Press into a well greased 18cm square sandwich tin. Bake in the centre of a moderate oven at 180c or 350f or gas mark 4 for 25 minutes or until evenly golden brown.. Mark into fingers whilst warm.
Allow to become almost cold in the tin before removing.

American Style Flapjacks/Pancakes
Ingredients
1 c flour
1 egg
1 tb butter/margarine, melted
2/3 c milk
1 1/2 ts baking powder
3 tb sugar
1/4 ts salt
Instructions
Sift the dry ingredients together, add the egg and mix it in until it
is almost absorbed. Add the milk and mix until semi-smooth. Mix inthe molten butter/margarine.
It should make about 5 pancakes 7 inches in diameter.
Use less sugar if you like to use a lot of syrup.
Always use a little vanilla and throw in a little applesauce

I make this version of flapjack for my gran as she has difficulty eating with her dentures. It's a softer and more interesting consistency.

1 grated apple mixed with the zest and juice of half a lemon

I use the recipe which the first answer mentioned but I spread on some melted Cadburys milk chocolate(or whatever's your favourite) over whilst it's still warm and use a fork to make a wavey line up and down and put in fridge to set. It is delicious mmmmm.

1 1/4 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup canned pure pumpkin
4 large eggs, separated, room temperature
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 1/3 cups cake flour
1 3/4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil or butter
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
Pure maple syrup
Whisk buttermilk, pumpkin, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla in medium bowl to blend; whisk in melted butter. Whisk flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in large bowl to blend. Add dry ingredients to buttermilk mixture and whisk to combine.
Using electric mixer, beat egg whites in medium bowl until soft peaks form. Fold whites into batter.
Lightly oil or butter heavy large skillet set over medium heat. Working in batches, pour batter by 1/3 cupfuls onto skillet; cook until bubbles form on top, about 1 1/2 minutes. Turn flapjacks over and cook until second sides brown, about 1 minute. Transfer flapjacks to plates. Sprinkle with nuts. Serve with syrup.
Makes about 14.
