What's a headache?

I have heard people saying things like "I've got a splitting headache". What does this mean? Is it a bit like a treacle pudding?

Answers:
People like you who obviously are time wasting and annoying.
An ache in the head.
its something the wife gets when she doesnt want sex
an ache in the hed

When your head really hurts. like toothache but pain in your head instead of your teeth. you are lucky you have not experienced one ..it is certainly nothing like treacle pudding. Then again, i dont like that either.
the girlfriend-sorry X
No it's not like a treacle pudding - you are thinking of a thickhead.

It's like the morning after a long night out and quite similar to the ache in your head that you get.

It is also sometimes fictitious - eg "not tonight/this year, dear, I have a headache." Hence a "splitting" headache - it cause people to split/separate.
You have never had a headache? Well, you'd know if you had .. it's an extreme pain in the head - the worst is when it gets across your forehead and behind your eyes. A mild headache is a dull ache at the back of your head. Just hope you never have one!
a head ache is caused by top secret z-rays beamed down from cia sattelites into the brains of unsuspecting individuals. sometimes this can cause the need to ask silly questions on yahoo but more often than not it causes sneezing, anal leakage, wild thoughts and food poisoning. and sometimes, v v v rarely, a headache
A head ache is a sharp pain that you feel in your head when you are stressed out in dangerous heat or if you have hit your head on anything.
Hope my advice helps you out with whatever you needed to know.
A headache is your body's way of telling you that some is wrong, IE you have not eaten all day you might get a headache or become dizzy.
wll lets just say i would rather have the treacle pudding
A headache and a migraine are very different. A headache is an ache in the head, it can be very painful and feel like your head is splitting apart.

A migraine is a headache in a whole league of it's own, symptoms include flashing lights behind your eyes and vomiting and dizziness.
I can see treacle pudding giving a headache to a person trying to find a treacle to go in the recipe. :))
