dont overfill frdges or freezers and always keep uncooked meats on the bottom shelf to avoid cross contaminaion through dripping.Always be aware of cross contamination and rotting food.Dont reheat meat that has been left standing as it will be riddled with bacteria and heating it makes it worse as bacteria multipies every 20mins. A lot of it is common sense.
Go on the CIEH level 1 course , it will help you with basic food and hygiene.
wash hands with anti-bacterial soap between preparing raw meats and foods that will be eaten uncooked, change cutting boards between these tasks as well.
if you don't have a different board, use a bleach and water solution (approx 1 oz. per gallon of water) to sanitize the cutting board. leave sanitizing solution on board for at least 3 minutes before rinsing and using for food that will be eaten raw.
simply remembering to wash hands cuts down on food-bourne illnesses drastically.
