I did this recently with a 40 year old bottle of Dow vintage port 1966. I searched the web for reputable vintage port sellers then rang them with an enquiry for my particular bottle and year. They were able to give me an answer for the retail price over the phone. Christie's or Southeby's auctioneers may also be able to give free estimates. Good Luck
winecommune.com is a very well respected, high-volume online auction site. You research recent sales there, though it is likely that there hasn't been an exact match for your bottle recently. The value of your bottle will depend very, very heavily on your abilty to deomonstrate that it has been properly stored. Unfortunately, If it hasn't been properly stored, it is virtually worthless. If the fill-level is not above the shoulder of the bottle, or if the cork shows any sign of swelling or leakage, you know it has not been cared for properly. Even without those indications, it could very easily have been ruined over the years, and no one will be willing to take that chance without some solid assurances.
