I need to make cup cakes for a birthay party, whats the best recipe?
Answers:
go buy duncan hines or betty crocker ready mix. all you'll need to do is add eggs, water and oil. then buy some frosting to go with it.
buy a box of cake mix it is cheaper and quicker
but use butter cream frosting and use can make then look how ever you want example use ice cream cones as hats you got clowns or bake the cupcakes in the ice cream cones and you have ice cream cake looking cones
Any recipe for cup cakes is the best recipe. Cupcakes are great I like them a lot, it's like having your own personal cake. There are many recipes on Martha Stewart's web site. I have tried many of them and they are all good. It's where I go when I want to get some new ideas, as far as baking goes.

Black Bottom Cupcakes are the best!
lhj.com had some great ideas on there yesterday; idea for icing in the middle, etc;
I too make cupcakes out of the box, however I add applesauce, yes a snack cup size of applesauce to the batter. You cannot taste it !, it does not alter the flavor but it makes the cakes Very Moist and fluffy, I guarantee! try it even if not for the birthday cakes I do it everytime
why are they called cup cakes thats what i wanna know? u dont serve them in cups now do u
1 cup of butter 2 eggs beat to gether until sick yellow colour add 1 cup of self raising flour and 1 cup of sugar beat togher put in oven until browned. Then scoff the lot.
Nigella's cupcakes rock! I have never ever had a problem with this recipe and everyone I have made them for loves them!
Personally, I've found that any box cake mix will work wonderfully, if you mix the ingredients right. I have a Kitchenaid mixer that I've had for a few years now. Before then, I just used a hand mixer or did it by hand. I have found that those two methods just don't work well enough. The stand mixer (doesn't have to be a Kitchenaid of course) works best because it mixes the batter very thoroughly and puts enough air into it to bake up really nice and fluffy. Especially in a cupcakes. Happy baking :)

Banana and Lemon Muffins!
These are so delicious. guaranteed to be a favourite with everyone :) My partner's little god-daughter adores these and since i bake little cup cakes for her and her family a lot, they always ask for these!
a little oil for greasing
85g honey-dipped dried banana chips
140g self raising flour
2tsp baking powder
finely grated zest and juice 1 lemon
4tbsp light muscovado sugar
4tbsp milk
1 egg beaten
50ml sunflower oil
3 bananas
4tbsp icing sugar
1. Heat oven to Gas Mark 6 or equivalent. Lightly oil 10 cups of muffin tin or line with deep paper cases. Break 50g of the banana chips into pieces. Sift together the flour and baking powder. Stir in the zest, sugar and the broken dried banana chips.
2. Whisk together the milk, egg and oil. Mash the bananas with 1tbsp of lemon juice. Fold carefully into the dry ingredients with the egg mixture (don't overwork it). Divide the mixture between the muffin cups/cases, not quite filling them. Bake for 20 mins until risen and firm.
Leave for a few mins, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
3. Sift remaining icing sugar into a bowl. Blend with 1-2 tsp of the remaining lemon juice. Drizzle over the muffins; decorate with the remaining whole banana chips.
Takes 45 mins.
Buy a boxed mix, and follow the directions. Dont bother making from scratch. Mixes are WAY easier
