You will have to come to grips the possibility that your eating orientation may not be exactly orthodox. But just enjoy the stuff (whatever way you eat it)
To show how sick I and those I associate with are, this very subject came up at work a few days ago. We smelled a very strong smell from somewhere in the building, and people were saying "It smells like tea" or "It smells like seafood" -- I thought their suggestions were way off the mark, and I just said "It smells like someone has been eating puffed wheat." A few guys laughed, because they knew what I was getting at.
So, yes, I noticed that. It's unique among foods for doing this, in my experience, anyway.
As far as "why are you smelling your pee?" -- trust me, the odor is strong enough to come up and slap you in the face.
Someone asked this question before and many people answered saying they noticed the same thing, must be the ingredients, maybe the honey.

eww. my boyfriend eats them all the time and he complains of the same thing! then he forgets to flush the chain and i start heaving very gross
