Any good tips for Gran Tourismo 4 on PS2.?

Make use of the B-Spec mode (especially for the endurance races). If you speed up the time you can get races done up to 3 times quicker (very useful for the 24hr races) and the computer controlled driver will usually do a good job as long as you have a decent car.
Get a long race done as early as possible in your "career" to get a very nice car to use in easier races.
Drive really fast.

Put down controller. Switch off PS2. Open door and go outside for a walk in the fresh air.
learn how to find and use the 'racing line' on each track
and learn how to drift
When you start the game, buy a used mitsubitshi car at a used showroom(i can't remember which). The mitsubishi should cost close to 10,000 and should have at least 200 hp.
Learn racing techniques is a start (braking, acceleration, racing lines etc)
If you have GT3 and GT4 Prologue, Where you got to on prologue can give you licences straight away, GT3 gives you 100k straight off make sure the game save files are on the memory card you are using. I used this trick to get myself a brand new Civic Type R which was v quick when tuned up and enabled me to win races very early on.
