When trying to read a knitting pattern, what does Yarn Over mean exactly?
How do you YO AND keep knitting in a garter stitch?

You know how you bring the yarn from back to front (and vice versa) when you switch from a knit stitch to a purl stitch? Well to do a yarn over while knitting (garter stitch is all knit stitches), just bring the yarn to the front as if you were going to purl, but then knit instead. This will not only add a stitch, but it will also give you an intentional little hole on the finished fabric. There are a LOT of yarn overs in lace knitting.
