I ahve downloaded a lot of stuff off the Sims 2 website but it never goes into my game. How can I make it?

I am assuming from your question that you have the game installed and running. Look in C:/program files/ EA Games/The SIMS 2 and you will see a few folders including a data folder. My daughter plays Sims 2 and the folder is "TSData". This seems to contain files for new game objects and rooms etc. At the "SIMS" level there is even a text file listing the files stored.
Go into "TSDAta" and then "RES" and you will see folders for "LotTemplates", "Neighborhoods", "Objects" etc. Most of the files inside are "package" files, whatever that means. From my previous experience with other games, the new files have to go into the correct folders. "Sound" is a good example, as it obviously contains sound files -no point putting them in with terrain features! If you do this it won't harm the game, the effect will just not be used in the game.
If you have downloaded a zipped file you will have to extract the files, preferably into the correct folders -some times the download page gives instructions or there is a readme file in the download telling you where to store each file.
If you need WinZip you can get it from the web as free trialware.

Sometimes when you download from the site it saves it into one of your temporary folders. If you download it and choose "save" rather than open then you can select for it to be saved to your desktop, then what I do is I double click on the item on my desktop and it will automatically install it, then I delete the icon from my desktop (as long as you've gotten the message "Installation Complete" or "Package Installed" or similar after double clicking on it then you should be ok to delete the file from your desktop.) If you're still having problems I'd check the msg board on the Sims site and the help section they usually have FAQ's and if one of those don't have an answer for you then you can always try submitting a question to their support and see if they can help you.
