Texas holdem?

If you are dealt Ace King what are the odds of hitting Ace King by the river. I have been told it is 1 in 2 or 50% but how can it be when there are only 6 cards to go and 50 left

Answers:
i dont know the odds..but if you are delt that kind of hand i say forget the odds and play it anyway!
You are right they are wrong

It is less than that
if thisis where you are at, dont play for real money yet.
youve lost me on that one, you need to explain the question better.
about 50%
The odds are about 75% actually that you win the hand. It goes by what you can make out of the hand not just getting a pair.I used to be a dealer for 15 yrs I saw alot of hands made with the big slick.
It depends how many people are still in the hand. If it is just you against one person, there are 4 cards already dealt, 2 to you and 2 to the other player. 48 cards left, 3 of which could be Ace's and 3 could be Kings. So, you have 6 cards that you could hit, out of48, therefore you have 6/48 chance, or a 12.5% chance of hitting one of those cards. It's always a good starting hand, but only if played correctly.

Hope this helps
im not sure of the odds all the way to the river, but im sure its not 1 in 2 to get them both.

i know u have a 1 in 5 chance of hitting any 1 card on the flop, so youd have a 1 in 2.5 to hit an ace OR a king.

if sum1 knows could they post a link to, not just a site that teaches u about hold em, but a site that shows such odds?
you have a confusing question. no it is not 50%, otherwise everyone would be playing it. 2nd of all, the other player might have an Ace or King, so you odds might be even greater. 3rd of all, it depends on how many people were in the start of the hand. 4th of all it might come A A 6 9 K, meaning you have a full house, but 2 Aces came and 1 King, that's 3 of your cards and not 2. so, rephrase your question please as there are to many different possibilities that you are asking all at once. if this helps, A K is only good if you hit the flop, if you miss the flop and someone bets never chase, if you think your behind never chase, just because its A K doesn't make it any better if your behind on the flop. man this is a difficult question. good luck in your poker.
There are 3 Kings and 3 Aces still out and you have 5 cards to be dealt to the river. This means you have 30 outs (6 x 5). There are 50 unknown cards so the chances are 30/50 = 60%. That's the odds of hitting an Ace or a King (if that is what you meant).

On the other hand I had AK three times last night and lost money each time. The last time I was called by A !0 and he hit a 10 on the river, so perhaps you had best muck them now.
