Does anyone know if the "training guitars" are any good for learning to play?
Is £60 a good price?

I don't think its a good idea. You can learn all the chord shapes anywhere else and songs as well. If you want beginner lessons check out about.guitar.com Its a website with very good beginner lessons. A training guitar wont help you progress any quicker than a normal guitar.
I recommend you start with an electric or and electro-acoustic.
I started with an acoustic but didn't get far because the strings take a lot of finger strength to fret. An electric is much easier as the strings are closer and you can build up speed and technique quickly. If you don't want to plug it in all the time you can get an electro-acoustic. This can be plugged in or played like a normal acoustic. The advantage is the strings are close and easy to play. Once you havee built up technique and speed with either guitar, your strength will hav built up and you can play acoustic if you want. A good beginner guitar would be an encore as they are cheap, sound reasonable and are very reliable. I have one myself.
i' ve seen those and it is a good idea,,i been playin for yrs and have no desire to be shown, (music is something we hear) but for a learning tool.. i would had bought one if there was such a thing when i started
They are only good if you use them on trains.
Sounds like a good idea, but it wont teach you about spontaneity or using your imagination will it? You will end up playing what ever the "training guitar" tells you to play instead of working things out for yourself.
If i were you i would get a "normal" acoustic and learn on that. There is no quick way of learning the guitar (or any instrument) you have to be prepared to put the time in.
Good luck
I don't think so. They might teach you technically how to transfer music to the frets but thats not the idea (initially ) really.
i think you'd be better with an ordinary guitar and a couple of lessons with a blues player.
You would outgrow the training guitar in a couple of weeks, then what would you do ? You'd feel like a right dork playing it infront of anyone.
