Does a tree falling in the forest make a noise when there is no-one there to hear it?
Answers:
Yes. If you don't believe me, leave a tape recorder there and play it back later with the volume turned way up.
If you still think no, I've got a question for you, does it make as many noises as there are individuals to hear it?
The vibrations themselves are the noises. The influence on the ears, that's just reception.
Every time.
Yes definatly.
That's a very old one you can be more creative.
ofcourse it makes a noise, just because someone is not their to hear it doesn't stop it from making a noise
Of course it does, if you were there at that moment to hear you will know.
yes as noise is air vibrating - therefore irrespective of anyone hearing it, it still occurs
If a man is in the forrest and there is no woman there, is he still wrong?
No it does it real softly so not to disturb the deer
If it fell on you it would.
A sort of a squelching bone crunching sort of noise.
Sound is only there if there is someone to hear it - so NO!
Noise is how your ears interpret sound waves. So if there is noone hearing it there is noone to interpret it as noise
zzzzzzzzz...zzzzzzz..zzzzz.
NO! the vibrations dont turn into noise until it hits someones eardrum, therefore if theres no-one there to hear it it just stays as vibrations not noise!
There are several ways to look at this. You could take a semantic approach and say it depends on
how you define “noise.” Or, you could look at the physics and set up equipment to measure the
changes in air pressure that occur when the tree falls and humans aren’t present. What makes this
question interesting from a software quality assurance point of view is not the answer, but the
fact that anyone thought to ask it in the first place. It implies that trees make noise (or not), or
that noise in the forest is important (or not) only if there are people for whom tree noise is
important. If no one ever visited this forest, it can be as quiet as outer space or a cacophony of
creaking timber, and nobody will know.or care.
is that the same as asking: if you put a cat in a sealed, airtight, lead lined box without any way of seeing inside or weighing it etc - how do you know the cat is actually there and hasn't been moved out of your plane of existence until you open the box again? (see: schroedinger)
p.s. did someone cut the tree down or did it die of natural causes?
There is always "something" living in the forest to hear a tree fall if it did. So yes, it does make a noise.
Yes. It's called sound. Sound is still there even if there's no one to hear it.
Yes, it does. I have seen a tree fall and been too far from it to hear it fall but the birds and animals in the nearby glade could be seen to be startled and move away in the opposite direction.
Some of the deer could not see the tree but moved off at speed due to being startled by the noise.
This answered this time honoured question for me.
Well at last an original question as original as asking if you can cry under water both questions are yes of course it will and of course you can !
If a bear poops in the woods while that tree is falling, does his poop still stink?
wat kind of question is that course it bloody does
Who cares?
probably
assumption
Sure does
YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WILL YOU!!
Yes most certainly. Does a baby crying make a noise when a mother is not there to hear it? Yes most certainly.
This old question certainly relates well to man's arrogance and disregard for the natural environment. As if anything of nature must ask man's permission to do something! Probably based on some old religious text or something, regarding man's dominance over the earth.
