I found a coackroach in my kitchen?
Answers:
It is not always a sign of being dirty, in many countries it is perfectly normal, get a spray from the supermarket and use in all the nooks and crannies, and make sure you dont leave any food around, no crumbs etc, and store opened food items in containers
if where you are is in a drought it might of snuck in for some water just keep an eye out for anymore..
Possible neighbors.
If you saw one you have at least 20, I would call an exterminator.
could come from a neighbor or if someone has given you furniture etc could have come with them!
its hot they breed fast
sometimes they lay eggs in paper pulp like that used for brown bags.i would get rid of any you may have and fumigate
Get the environmental health officer round. (UK)
it could have just walked in off the street
Well stop boasting.
Seriously though, they like clean places. They're just little critters and want a home like every critter.
Though your kitchen is clean enough coackroachs can spread from any other place to kitchen. They love dark places and finds them very soon with their imaginary sence, and move to those places.
Could of been brought in on your clothes or a bag. Does you or anyone else work or have been to an area where there may be cockroaches? One probably hitched a ride. Seriously!
Do u live in an apartment? they may be in the walls. Ask the landlord for an exterminator. If U own Ure own, call an exterminator. Orkin or something. Good luck.
lol depending on what the temperate outside is .. roaches come inside when its hot outside
Tell your family and friends to "leave the roaches at home"!
Are all you containers in the food cupboard sealed properly?
Sorry,if you found one there's many more around. call apest control agency
could have come in in a cardboard box. don't call an exterminator yet go get on of the cheap hotel type things first and see if you catch anymore.if you do then call the bug dude.
hey, its cool. if you have an old house, they are even expected. just dont leave your food open, cause they are filthy, but are not dangerous in any other way. ok, they are ugly too, but besides that, they are ok. and yes call exterminator, cause there is always more than one, you know.
There is a chance you could have more but if you did they would be somewhere like behind the fridge or in the vents, they especially love places where there is water like drains or leaking/dripping pipework.
Check these places and then check your furniture, they love those too.
If you have found none then it's likely it's a one off.
The heat brings them out more specially so if you have trees near you. I live in the countryside & suffered with these yucky things last year but luckily I've been ok so far, but gonna go check all the places I've just mentioned, just in case lol
Well there's one there is more. It has probably laid eggs as well that's when you really have a problem. Just be on the look out for more.
Maybe that pest came from outside after somebody opened a door, a window or any opening in your kitchen.
If you killed the cockroach, you don't have to fear anything. If you haven't, beware coz that pest can multiply anytime!
It could have come from anywhere. It's not a sign that your home is dirty. Get something immediately or there will be lots more of them. I keep roach traps in my kitchen and bathrooms all the time. You can spray for them, but I like the traps, no yucky smell. Also if you have pets, and you spray, you have to make sure you cover their food dishes and put them in a different room or even out of the house while you fumigate. The traps eliminate this problem as well.
They are never alone hun; always in packs - much like those hoodies on the street corner.
Probably came in from a drain or a hole in your wall (check around pipes).
I was once told by a surgeon about Cockroaches laying eggs in your ear as you sleep. Apparently its a hell of an operation to remove the eggs and if ANY hatch .... well you dont want to know.
My point is: KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL !!
Cockroaches have been around since the dinosaurs. They can survive anything, even a nuclear bomb! They are in your house because they want to be and you don't have a choice. Make your house they don't really like. You can do this by getting rid of paper products laying around, such as stacks of newspapers and paper bags. Also, don't leave any food out. Store all opened pantry supplies in tightly sealed containers. You can also spray, which will help some but not completely. You can't get rid of them, but you can make your house less boring.
If you find one cockroach, there is more. It has brothers and sisters as cockroaches lay 200 eggs at a time. you may want to get the walls treated, because thats where they hide. In the walls.
www.terminix.com - this could help on pest control issues.
They love paper and warm dark wet places - check any pile of old newspapers, cardboard, clean everything -- the cutlery drawer, the cupboards, check/clean under the sink for drips, and behind the fridge and in the bathroom. Also, they can get into your clothes and books and come with you when you move. If you find you are getting a lot of them, you would do well to wash all your clothes in hot water and seal them in plastic garment containers.
If you saw one, there will be a nest somewhere - it may be in the walls, in the next apartment. But you have to do everything you can to get rid of them. Get some roach traps and set them out immediately. Then call the exterminator, but the bottom line is that an exterminator will only kill the adults - he won't necessarily get their eggs - and you'll have to call him back. To get rid of the eggs, thoroughly wash the kitchen, bathroom and all the baseboards - where they like to run along, with bleach. Seal your food, especially anything like bread, crisps, biscuits, in tight containers -- don't keep anything out that comes in a cardboard box (cereal etc.). Buy liquid soap for your bathroom, not bar soap, as they eat bar soap. Steam clean your rugs - etc etc etc. The absolute best non toxic roach killer which you should use (on top of the poisons and everything else) is Insectigone (link below). It is a special kind of very fine earth that gets into their little joints and makes it impossible for them to move. Once you've cleaned everything and sealed everything, put out the traps, called the exterminator, sprinkle Insectigone along the cracks in the rooms, behind the fridge, in cracks under the sink, anywhere you think they might like to run along en route to eating your food.
This may sound over the top, but believe me, you can't get over the top enough with cockroaches.
Everynight just pour very very hot water on the sink! Do it for 7 days! Most of the time they come the sink drain line!
Get rid of any boxes, & bags.
Just chill girl, its only a coackroach, the summer brings them out. You probably get a cat to sort them out.
