How do you test if a piece of jewellery is gold if it does not have a hallmark?

Answers:
Real gold does not usually cause an allergic skin reaction when worn, nor does it turn your finger green if it is a pure gold ring. It won't tarnish or fade when wet, as fake gold will.
You have to take it to a jewellers, but you won't find much genuine gold jewellery with out a hallmark to be honest.
If there's no hallmark then it isn't gold
Well theirs your test, if it doesn't have a hallmark, then its not real gold, simple as!
rub it on a girls face that is wearing makeup and it should make like a dark mark.
