Does anyone know how I can remove biro from my leather sofa without ruining it.?
It is a dark brown one so anything that won't lighten that particular part would be helpful.
Answers:
The most common problem for leather sofas.
Best to test any cleaning methods, on base of sofa, out of sight.
Don't use hairspray as this will probably shift the biro stain, but lighten the leather. Carefully rubbing some isopropyl alcohol with a soft cloth, should do the trick.
I seen once on T.V's: How Clean Is Your House - that you should use a soap bar (one that doesnt have colours or perfumes in) and warm water and a cloth.. you rub the damp cloth on the soap bar and rub the area. you might find it pulls up a dirt layer too that you can't see until you do that though.. I do all my leather sofa like that every now and then now..
xx
baby wipes.if they're good enough for a babys bum, they're good enough for leather...just dont scrub 2 hard
On 'how clean is your house' they removed biro from a leather sofa by spraying it with hairspray and wiping it with a cloth. Worked a treat but the sofa was cream so I'd try it on a bit that you cant see first.
Shopping channel 'Price Crash' were showing a product last week which claimed to do just that.
A spot of non gritty industrial hand cleanser is ideal for this. Follow up with a hot damp cloth then a nice dry one to buff it back to normal.
Try using Duraglit (that impregnated wadding stuff that's meant for cleaning metal and comes in a tin) I've used it several times to get biro off old photos that my young daughter scribbled on) Again, try a bit you can't see first, and clean off any residue by polishing with a dry duster afterwards.
soap and water that easy !!!
neat washing up liqud on cloth or spray of hairspray
hair lacquer works well if you are unsure try on unseen bit of sofa
