How does a wood burning stove heat the house?
does it link up to the radiators i already have or do i need new ones

If you purchase a woodburner with an integral boiler then you can run your radiators from it. There isn't really any way to convert your open fire into an effective wood burner. If you have a back boiler from your open fire then the hot water pipes are just redirected to the stove instead of the back boiler. Loads of wood burning stoves on ebay.

You mean wood-burning furnace? If so, it can be linked to rads, since it simply heats the water that goes thru the rads.

If you mean an old fashioned wood stove such as was popular in the early part of the 19th century, it heats your home by heating the air inside the stove, which when hot leaves the stove through the top of the grate on the front of the stove, while cooler air comes in thorough the same grate. Additionally, the heat on the stove surface heats by convection.just like a convection oven does.
