Is it legal to shoot pigeons and squirrels with an air rifle?

Answers:
In the United Kingdom? YES!
What you should know about owning an airgun
You may not buy an airgun, or airgun ammunition of any kind, below the age of 17. At 14, you may be given an airgun as a present - preferably by a parent or guardian - and you may use it, unsupervised on land where you have full permission to shoot.

Below the age of 14, you may only shoot under the supervision of someone over 21 years of age. The supervision adult is fully, legally responsible for ALL actions of the juvenile shooter.

It is perfectly legal to shoot a legal-limit airgun in your garden, provided NO pellets leave your boundaries.

It is illegal to fire an airgun within 50-feet (15 metres) of the centre of a public highway, if by so doing you cause upset or inconvenience to anyone using that highway.

Legal airgun quarry species include brown rats, magpies, carrion crows, rooks, jays, squirrels, woodpigeons, feral pigeons and collared doves. Other species', such as sparrows, starlings, lesser black backed gulls, herring gulls and greater black backed gulls are best left to professional pest controllers.

The U.K. legal muzzle energy limit for air rifles is 12 ft.lbs., and 6 ft.lbs. for air pistols. Rifles developing more than 12 ft.lbs. are subject to a Firearms Certificate. Except under special circumstances, pistols producing over 6 ft.lbs. are deemed prohibited and may not be owned.

Penalties for unlawful possession of a firearm - such as an air rifle which exceeds the UK legal power limit - are severe and can carry mandatory, 5-year prison sentences.

When used unlawfully, airguns are regarded as firearms and attract the same penalties as illegally used shotguns and live-ammunition arms.

The above is taken from 'Air Gunner' Annual 2005. Air Gunner magazine is available at most newsagents and provides the reader with a wealth of information on the subject.
It's about as legal as it is for someone to shoot you with an air rifle.
it shouldn't be legal and don't you dare try it to find out if you get arrested. if you have a pest problem call the council
yeah =\
pigeons are under license, do so at your peril. They hang out with collared doves which are protected and racing pigeons, shoot one of those and you could have a bill for up to 16 000 landing on your mat, and a summons for criminal damage, and using a weapon in public, and causing an affray etc etc etc.

There are better ways to dter them if they are bothering you
i bet it's not legal. but it does sound like a lot of fun! lol :)
yes it is you can use a 22 air rifle with stewel pellets you can only use a rifle on private land only with the owners consent you cannot use it in public and you may need to obtain permission form the neighbours and inform your local constabuklary and get alicence
It used to be legal to shoot rats, but with todays gunlaws i should imagine you need all sorts of license.

No.
what comes around goes around, if you shoot pigeons and squirrels they will come back to haunt you in their after-life, the pigeons will peck your eyes out and the squirrels will nibble on your flesh and you will have a slow and painful death
no they r virmine so who cares
how cruel. yes its legal in the UK but it should be banned..there are always idiots roaming about on my estate shooting anything that moves (well almost)and even shooting at birds and squirrels in the trees in my garden and terrifying my kids.if theres any justice it will come back on them.
